Core Sound 20 Mark III Construction Update 3

Cabin top, cockpit sole, and seat backs installed. I'll flip her and start on the bottom this weekend (see below).  Found some clear spruce for the sprit booms. Also working on the mast and rudder. Island Nautical in St. Petersburg will do the cabin top before the Cedar Key Boat Meet. Lots of work to get done before then.

The middle part will be cut back for the tabernacle.

  1. It all looks very interesting, Doug. I'm curious how some of the issues are being handled. The artist's conceptuals really don't answer my questions, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. Best wishes, jim

  2. Hi Doug, really enjoying watching the cs20 mk3 come together. Will you be taking the boat to Island Nautical to work on the cabin top? If so, I'd love to meet up with you and buy you beer while your in town. I've pretty much decided on the CS20 MK3 for a boat building project/eventual EC challenge boat once the plans and kits become available.

  3. James, be sure to check out the Messing About Boatbuilding site - B&B Forum. It's a good place to get questions answered by the designer.

Jonathan, I will have her at Island Nautical the morning of April 30 on my way to Cedar Key. Chief is also planning on meeting me there. We can have a cup of coffee after I drop her off.

    1. Doug, that would be great. I'm trying to work out making it up to Cedar Key as well, but I'm not sure that is going to happen yet. Island Nautical is only about 2 miles from my house, so as long as you really don't mind an extra onlooker, I'd love to see the MK3 in person.

  4. That's an interesting cabin -- it reminds me of the one on the Angus Expedition Rowboat -- useful yet low windage.
