Core Sound 20 Mark III Part 2

I am back from the 2014 Everglades Challenge (more on that later) and back to work on the Mark III.  When I was in Florida, I spent some time with the canvas people at Island Nautical to devise a cover for the open trench cabin top.  We came up with a plan for curved battens sewn into the sunbrella and ricing on cars on a track on the combings.  My goal is to have the boat encapsulated and at least the bottom painted so that we can install the cover and bring the boat to the Cedar Key Small Boat Meet the first weekend in May.

I've been thinking of the name "Look Far" after the wizard's boat in the Wizard of Earthsea.  What do you think?

Looking aft in the cabin.  The forward section of the water ballast has been sealed (right) and to the left is storage and the aft part of the starboard bunk

Working on the seat backs.  This may take extra hands and some screws to bend this!

Locker drains for cockpit lockers

Parts that will never again see the light of day have to be encapsulated with epoxy

. . . and the cabin top is easier to seal before it is turned over and installed.  Otherwise you get epoxy in your hair!

  1. Wow! You fixed the problems with a Dovekie: those ugly leeboards, cabin access. Good job! BP
